Upon recording
the bond with the Recorder of Deeds, the Recorder of Deeds will
file the bond with the Secretary of the Commonwealth.
The $10,000
bond for the notary public commission shall be issued by a duly
authorized surety company or the notary applicant can have two sufficient
individual sureties, to be approved by the Secretary of the Commonwealth,
to act as surety for the faithful performance of the duties of the
office of notary public and for the delivery of the notary’s
register to the office of the Recorder of Deeds of the proper county
in case of the death, resignation or disqualification of the notary
within thirty (30) days of such event.
Unless the
bond as well as the commission and oath of office are recorded within
the proper office of the recorder of deeds within the forty-five
(45) days of the beginning of the term upon appointment or reappointment,
they shall be null and void.
The
notary bond guarantees a notary public's faithful performance of

Steps
for having your bond executed and recorded: |

Make
a copy of the notary bond (double-sided form) for your records. |

Send the notary bond to M. BURR KEIM AGENCY along with your
"Notice to Appointee" letter from the Commonwealth

You must then sign the bond as the "Principal" and
have another individual sign as the "Witness". |
